Elephant eating, Africa

Today I’m writing a blog for you to teach you how to eat an entire elephant…..
Just kidding!

You may have heard the metaphor before, ‘How do you eat an entire elephant by yourself?’, and the answer is: one bite at a time. That same concept applies to your health and fitness.

So often when I’m talking to moms about how to lose weight, how to gain more energy and how to get more motivation; they tend to focus more on the big picture and they look at the whole scale of what they’re trying to accomplish in one day, and it seems overwhelming.

It can be very daunting and seem like it’s too much to do, and if you apply the logic of “How to Eat and Elephant” to your health and fitness; it makes things very simple.

It is one of the things I teach to all of my moms inside of the Strong Mom Movement; I tell them to plan one day at a time.

Go simple and plan one meal at a time.

Plan one workout; five minutes is better than zero minutes. If you work out five minutes a day every single day, you’ve done thirty minutes of exercise which may be more than you’ve done in a year.

Do the same with your food; start with one breakfast. One healthy smoothie, or some scrambled eggs with spinach.

It can be very simple. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated, and we don’t have to think about meal prepping for an entire week: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Let’s plan everything at once. Oh I need to do five workouts every single day for an hour.

No, that is a bunch of non-sense! This kind of thinking is going to make you feel like there’s so much going on; it’s going to make you feel overwhelmed where you shut down and don’t take any action.

Then you’re left where you started wondering what else you need to do, trying to come up with a new alternative or find a new diet or that perfect program, telling yourself you’ll try again next week.

The easiest way to eat an elephant is one little bite at a time.

If you want to find out more or want more help downsizing your goals into easier attainable chunks, or smaller bites so to speak, I’d be happy to help you. Click here to send me a message, and I’ll turn you into a strong mom too!
