I wanted to share a quick tip about proper recovery.

Part of taking care of yourself, part of proper exercise protocol and being able to implement this on a regular basis, permanently for the rest of your life; part of that process is also making sure you recover.

If you’re feeling overly sore, if you’re aching or moving slower than normal, you may need to take a day off.

And that’s ok; you don’t have to do something every single day. You can take a rest day if your body is hurting too much or if your joints start to hurt or ache. In fact, its probably wiser than not.

If you are feeling sore, there are things you can do to help with that.

  1. You can take an epsom salt bath with a full cup of epsom salt and soak in the tub for about 20-30 minutes. Use 1-2 cups in warm water and just soak in the tub.
  2. You can also take some magnesium; this can be found at Sprouts, Whole Foods, Vitamin Shoppe or you can order it online. Taking magnesium will help with muscle soreness as well. I personally like to use a supplement called “Calm”.
  3. Something else you can do is ice your muscles to reduce the soreness. 10-15 minutes on the sore muscles 2-3 times per day.

Recovery and exercise is a game of proper balance in order to make sure you can maintain this active and healthy lifestyle going forward so you aren’t constantly overdoing it and running yourself into the ground with higher risks of injury.
